The Candelstick Bijou is designed by the internationally successful design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune.
”What is the smallest possible mass for a candlestick to stand stable, what are its smallest possible
dimensions? And what is the smallest possible design expression? The key word here is, of course,
“smallest”.
The smallness in itself makes Bijou likeable, cute, sweet. As a small piece of jewelry, a simple earring or
perhaps a signet ring – but for the table. At the same time, Bijou is sculptural in a way that brings to mind
larger forms. Two carefully proportioned shapes – a ‘podium’ and a ‘vessel’ – balance each other. The base
is mirrored in the urn-shaped holder so that it can be seen as either a floating cylinder or as a sphere stacked
on top of another.
